Welcome from Don Jones, Amateur Radio Station K6ZO

I became a ham radio operator at 14 years old. I received the call sign WN6CEI in 1974, then WB6CEI, and in 1978, I was issued the call sign N6ZV.  I am now K6ZO.  Amateur radio is a hobby that took me to South America, Africa and Islands in the Indian Ocean and Caribbean, enjoying the art of ham radio.  I am also founder and CEO of Westside Park Fellowship.  People helping people. Here are some postings of me and some of my radio qsl cards from various islands and dxcc countries.  I spent my 21st birthday on Tromelin Island in the Indian Ocean, operating amateur radio.  Tromelin Island has a population of five to six people who work for the French government.  There is a weather station and an airstrip on the island.

This is my amateur radio QSL card from Martinique. I operated amateur radio from Martinique on and of from 1980 to 1985.

This is my amateur radio QSL card from the Islamique Republic Des Comoroes in 1980.  I was 20 years old in this picture.  Pictured are Steve Orland D68XX (top) and Don Jones D68GA (bottom).

This is a picture of our amateur radio QSL card from Tromelin Island.  Tromelin Island is located east of Madagascar, in the Indian Ocean.  The population was five people in 1980.  We arrived and the population almost doubled.  We traded liqueur for fuel to power the generator for our radio equipment. We used the call signs FR0FLO/T and FR7BP/T. 11000+ qso's were made during our ten day stay on the island.  Pictured from left to right are Don Jones(N6ZV now K6ZO), Jean Bouygues FR7BP, Herik Larive FR0FLO, and Steve Orland AA6AA.  I spent my 21st birthday on Tromelin Island.  A Dxpedition is planned to Tromelin Island from October 30 to November 10, 2014.  Visit www.tromelin2014.com for more information.
